What a Dental Crown Actually Does
A crown replaces the outer surface of a tooth that can no longer hold up on its own. When a tooth is cracked, worn thin, heavily filled, or has had root canal therapy, the remaining structure is doing a job it wasn't built for. A crown takes that load off, holds the tooth together, and lets you chew normally again.
Crowns are the most common treatment in restorative dentistry for a reason: they save teeth that would otherwise need to come out. That said, not every damaged tooth needs one. A smaller repair is often the right answer, and we will tell you when it is.

Signs You May Need a Crown
You are more likely to need a crown if you recognize a few of these:
-
A tooth that is visibly cracked, chipped, or has a piece missing
-
Sharp pain when you bite down on one specific tooth
-
A large old filling that keeps chipping at the edges
-
A tooth that has had root canal therapy and has not been capped yet
-
Ongoing sensitivity to hot or cold in one tooth
-
A tooth worn flat or thin from grinding
-
An older crown that feels loose, rough at the gumline, or has come off
Exam and digital scan
We examine the tooth, take the X-rays we need, and scan your mouth digitally. No tray of impression material.
CAD/CAM design
Your crown is designed on-screen from that scan, shaped to your bite and to the teeth beside it.
Temporary crown
We prepare the tooth and fit a temporary so you can eat and speak normally while the final crown is made.
In-house verification
Before the case goes to the lab, we check the fit and the margins ourselves. Margins are where crowns most often fail later, so this step is not one we skip.
Final fitting
We seat the final crown, check your bite, adjust it until it feels right, and show you how to care for it.
PROCESS
How We Design and Fit Your Crown
Most crowns are finished in two or three visits. If you have a deadline, ask us about a one-week rush.
About
Crowns at Union Dental
Dr. Leonardo Castillo founded Union Dental in 2018 as an independent, family-owned private practice, and it has stayed one. That matters here more than it sounds like it should: nobody in this office has a production target telling them to find a crown. When we say a tooth needs one, that is the honest clinical answer, and we will walk you through the risks, benefits, and alternatives before you decide anything.
We do our part right, and that gives your crown its best chance at a long, comfortable life. How long it actually lasts also depends on your habits, your bite, and how you look after it, and we would rather be straight with you about that than promise you something nobody can promise.
Union Dental is rated 4.9 stars across 475+ Google reviews, the highest rating among the top practices in the market.

What makes Denita clinic stand out
The cost depends on the tooth, the material, and what else the tooth needs first. We give you the number before you commit, not after.
We are in-network with a wide range of plans, and our team verifies your coverage, explains your benefits, and files the claim for you. If you do not have insurance, our membership plan includes your preventive visits and takes 30% off treatment such as crowns. You can see the plans we're in-network with before your visit.
